About Remember Me

I am a retired adult educator. My wife had a stroke in February 2014 and now has mixed dementia. Her recovery from stroke has been exceptional apart from 50% loss of peripheral vision and vascular damage. 'Dharma For Dementia' is my approach to being Maureem's Care Partner: it aims to end the suffering of 'Prescribed Disengagement' (Swaffer) .

Someone should check she has what’s known as capacity to make decisions. If she can’t, then someone has to act on her behalf. That’s what had to happen last year with my husband. They can’t just assume she’s all right when it’s obvious she isn’t. Use that word ‘safeguarding’ if you need it. Incapacitated people must be allowed to live safely, whatever that entails.
